Join us for a Sunday afternoon reading by three award-winning Irish writers and get a chance to have a stimulating literary conversation with like-minded readers. Christine Dwyer Hickey, reading from her latest novel, Our London Lives; Hugo Hamilton, reading from his novel Conversation with the Sea; and Enda Wyley reading from her most recent poetry collection, Sudden Light.
Attendance is free, but booking is essential.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Christine Dwyer Hickey has published 9 novels, a short story collection and a full-length play. In 2020, her novel The Narrow Land won the Walter Scott Prize and The Dalkey Literary Award. The Cold Eye of Heaven won the Kerry Group Novel of the year in 2012. Her novel Tatty, first published in 2020 was nominated for The Orange Prize and was UNESCO One City One Book choice for 2020. Four of her novels have been shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards and in 2017 she was the winner of The Irish Short Story of the year at the IBA. Her latest novel Our London Lives was published in 2024 and the paperback along with reissues of four previous novels were published last Autumn. Her work has been widely translated into European and Arabic. She is a member of Aosdana.
Hugo Hamilton is the best-selling author of –The Speckled People – a memoir of his German-Irish childhood in Dublin, growing up with his German mother and prohibited by his revolutionary Irish father from speaking English. ‘The Speckled People’ has been translated into twenty languages and was performed at the Gate Theatre. He has won numerous literary awards including the Prix Femina in France and the Bundesverdienstkreuz order of merit in Germany. His latest novel ‘Conversation with the Sea’ is published by Hachette. Hamilton lives in Dublin and is a member of Aosdána.
Enda Wyley has published six collections of poetry, her most recent Sudden Light, Dedalus Press, October 2025. She has also published Borrowed Space, New and Selected Poems, 2024, Dedalus Press. She is the recent recipient of the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy 2026 Prize in Poetry, St Thomas University Minnesota, U.S.A, now in its 30th year. Other awards include the Vincent Buckley Prize in Poetry, Melbourne University and a Reading Association of Ireland Award. Enda lives in Dublin where she teaches poetry and co-hosts the popular podcast Books for Breakfast. She is a member of Aosdána.
