LAUNCH | John McGahern: A Writing Life by Frank Shovlin

We are delighted to be hosting the launch of John McGahern: A Writing Life by Frank Shovlin. This major new biography covers the life of ‘the most important Irish novelist since Samuel Beckett’ (Guardian) that ‘everyone should read’; (Colm Tóibín); ‘one of the greatest writers of our era’ (Hilary Mantel).

After decades of research, Frank Shovlin illuminates the elusive figure, drawing on exclusive new interviews and archival material. Rich in dramatic and intimate revelations, Shovlin brings to life the world that inspired McGahern’s literary masterpieces – and offers a kaleidoscopic portrait of modern Ireland as a nation. The result is the definitive biography of Ireland’s greatest post-war writer.

All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.

Please RSVP by 22^nd October by email to: [email protected] using ‘McGahern book launch’ in the subject line.
