LAUNCH | 99th Day: A warning about technology by Gerry McGovern
This event has now passed.
We’re honoured to host the launch of Gerry McGovern’s new book, 99th Day: A Warning about Technology. The book is a potent and timely reminder of the dangers we are facing as technology continues to have a detrimental effect on our earth and our society, as well as the toxic influence of white male supremacy culture on techno-optimism.
All are welcome to attend—refreshments will be served.
Attendance is free, but booking is essential.
PRAISE FOR THE BOOK
“Techno-optimism is a plague on our society, rife with unintended consequences. Its single-focus problem-solving in a complex, intertwined world causes or amplifies many of the problems we face today: climate change, water scarcity and flooding, food insecurity, extreme forest fires. Written with the authority of a once-true believer and the passion of a convert, 99th Day: A Warning About Technology by journalist Gerry McGovern is the book we all need to heed now.” — Erica Gies, author of Water Always Wins
“99th Day is essential reading for anyone who cares about our planet. Prepare to be disturbed, enlightened and inspired.” — Justin McCarthy, The Irish Times
“Forensically sets out the horrendous hidden costs of—and the exponential damage being inflicted by—the tech billionaires, the AI messiahs, the mining conglomerates and the blood-sucking alpha males who are driving the Gadarene rush towards climate catastrophe.”—Niall Stokes, Hot Press
