Edited by Theo Dorgan, this extended, love-themed issue features new poems from Dermot Bolger, Annemarie Ní Churreáin, Susan Musgrave, Sam Furlong, Billy Collins, and many others. Irish-language editor Aifric Mac Aodha’s selection includes poetry from Simon Ó Faoláin and Cúán de Búrca.
This winter issue includes three works of prose. Laoighseach Ní Choistealbha’s essay offers an homage to one of the finest Irish love poets of our time, Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, while Fran Brearton, an authority on Robert Graves, explores the relationship between love and death in poetry. And Thomas McCarthy has contributed, appropriately for this issue, an essay On Love.
Artwork for this issue comes from Emma Stroude. Born in Berlin and now based in Sligo, Stroude is a visual artist whose working practice focuses mainly on drawing and painting. Her painting A Jar. A Tower. A Body. is featured on the issue cover, with seven striking additional images inside.
